FC105 Multi-faith Approaches to Sickness, Suffering and Healing
The Foundation degree in Healthcare Chaplaincy attempts to help ministers respond to the needs of those who are entrusted to their care. An essential part of this service is to support people in times of suffering, sickness and healing, which can be experienced mentally, physically and spiritually by those within the hospital environment. Drawing on insights from the major world faith traditions, this module reflects on how different religious perspectives can inform practice in the field.
FC207, 208, 209, 210Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism
The working environment of healthcare is increasingly multi-faith and multi-cultural. Increasing awareness of other world views enriches ministry through acquaintance with the core beliefs, common practice and diversity within these worldwide religions. The modules explore the respective faiths at the personal, local, national and international level, focusing particularly on religious identity in Britain.
