A Statement of Common Purpose And Practice
For A Team With Muslim And Christian Membership

Together as Christians and Muslims, affirming our belief in the one God, and our closeness in faith.
tracing our ancestry back through Abraham/Ibrahim (pbuh),

we pledge ourselves as a team
to give priority of the needs of patients, their families and friends, and staff,
as whole people with a spiritual dimension.

We commit ourselves to:

1. Work in collaboration with each other and with other hospital staff
2. Retain an openness to discerning how this relationship will develop
3. Trust in each other to share in general spiritual oversight
4. Explore practical ways of being present together at times of prayer
5. Meet together regularly for information-sharing, planning, learning and growth in friendship
6. Learn from our faith traditions about the experience of suffering, dying and healing
7. Offer both our difficulties and our achievements as models for inter-faith partnership
8. Offer support and encouragement to each other
